House warming and Parties

Greetings Wizards,

I want to talk a bit about house warming and parties,
yes those events where players come to visit your house and look around.
First off Planning, planning is everything date, time and & meeting place
( this also includes realm and area)meeting place for anyone you want to come who you do not have as a Friend. Now that we got all that done lets decorate for the event. Not everyone will be able to make it , this is ok you can always have them see your house another time ;)

Wizard101 has also made it so only friends can come to your event if you so choose
open spell book,go to privacy setting and the last one turn that to yes that only friends are allowed at your house. If you want to allow more leave it to no.

House warming Well these are simple, this is where you want to
have Friends just come a view your house, Show them something you are proud of
People love to see something that makes you happy, like your first
decorated room, special area of house and pets ;)

Parties and events
Now we are getting into something much bigger, Decorations mean a lot!
Although we cant sit or eat for events it is still nice to be able to
offer, and things to do are a MUST.

Decorations: there are party banners, cakes, balloons, you can even
make lavish event table settings for like dinner parties or group events.
Here is a picture of a dinner setting for a smaller group. You can make this very big ;)and now even with gold place setting :D

You will need things to do like a area for dancing with pets, how about some hide and seek, races, games and fun things for players to do. for group meetings how about a place to hold the meeting. Make things extra special Show people who you are.
These are just a few tips to help you on your way to fun times with housing.
Until next time, happy house decorating.

Boats and Stairs

Greetings Wizards,

I was asked me how to make stairs and how to put a boat on water. Putting a boat on water is pretty simple , what you need is a small rug chess or tic tac toe board a tatami mat and your boat. First take your small rug and place your board on it making sure to get it in the right direction of the way you want you boat to be in the water. Now take you mat and place it on ground then set your boat on it leaving just a tiny piece showing, that piece is what is going to keep your boat afloat, now move the boat by using that tiny piece of mat , shown in picture below. Place the boat on the board and pick up the small rug to leave your boat floating. There are so many ways players do this but I want to Thank Alura for this style makes it very simple.

On to stairs:

Items needed
creates of course i like jellybeans it is the cheapest, small blue trimmed
rugs again cheap, a few boards or lg rugs both work for this, and items
you want to use for stairs Now you need to be able to step on them, if you cannot you will need to place something under each piece to make it a stair, like my claw stairs in last segment I used tatami mats under each one leaving a small area to step on.

I got 3 pieces for this set of stairs.Take you creates and make then so you can place a board on them like I did with the Bunk-beds,Make your first step by placing the item on a board and pick the rug same as with floating any other item one box high.Next step just a about a 1/2 inch away in the direction you want the stairs to go 2 boxes high next 3 boxes high and so on.You will end up with a set of stairs that can lead to any where. picture above. One thing to remember if first you don't secede try try again.
Until next time, Happy house decorating

BunkBeds Wizard101 Style

Greetings Wizards,

Lets talk bunk beds ;) yes those fun beds children all love. Well today i am going to show you how to make them the Wizard101 way. Items you will need 1 Chessboard,3 small blue trimmed rugs, 2 creates I like jellybeans it is cheapest, anything else you like for head board and foot pegs. Above you see my newest Dragonspyre themed bunk-beds.
As shown in before segments (housing segment) you will need to set the boxes up so you can split them apart then stick them on top of each other. You should have 1 box and 1 rug on top of each other shown below. This will give you the height you will need for the top bunk. Now take a small rug and place a board on it then pick up only rug and move it on top of rug on top box, shown below.

Now place your bed on top of the chessboard , and pick up only top rug, this will leave the bed floating. All that is left now is to place your bed or which ever item you want under it to create your bunk style bed. Enjoy, until next time Happy house decorating.

Thank you Elijah for pointing out I needed a ladder ;) Yes you can climb this ladder.

Interview with Arthur Wethersfield

Greetings wizards,
Yes its that time again. As we all know I love housing , every aspect of it. keeping this in mind I sent a inerview to Arthur Wethersfield, if you do not know who he is let me tell you. Arthur Wethersfield is the Wizard101 programmer responsible for player housing., he is also the very first balance school instructor. I wanted to ask him a few questions about housing , hope you enjoy it as much as me :)

Greetings Arthur Wethersfield,

My name is Paige MoonShade I have a blog( Paige's Page) www.paigemoonshade.com for wizard101 housing tips and information.I would love to have a interview with you Sir, if you have time I know being responsible for player housing must be a very big job:) which makes me very happy by the way, besides being the first balance teacher wow. I was wondering if you would allow me the pleasure of answering some questions for my readers? I do hope so :) here we go.

Howdy Paige MoonShade,

I’ve been reading your blog. You’ve made several excellent posts about player housing. I’m the programmer responsible for player housing. I wrote the system that lets you place objects in a house and allows other players that visit your house to see what objects you’ve placed.

;1. What does it take to create a player house? Can you give us an idea of what it takes to create one? The graphics are amazing from bugs in Kropotopia to stormy skies in storm house.

Here’s our process for creating a new house. First, artists and designers will brainstorm ideas for a new house. Then, an artist will sketch concept art for how the inside and outside of the new house will look. Next, an artist will build the 3D areas for the inside and outside of the new house in 3ds Max. The artist marks locations where objects can be placed. These new areas are then handed to a designer who sets up where players can walk, connects the inside and outside with teleportors and creates purchasable objects called deeds that players get when they buy the house in game. Finally, game testers make sure that there aren’t any problems with the new house.

2. I love housing so much I now have 20 houses, Do you own one? Which is your favorite? Oh btw the Grizzlehiem houses are amazing!

I have a level 50 character that I’ve been playing since the game was launched. I have three houses but my favorite and the one I’ve spent most of my time decorating is the Wooded Cottage. I know that the item limit for it is low but I just like how it looks.  I’m in the process of crafting the new Grizzlehiem house.

3. Creative housing techniques , What do you think of them? I have seen some really creative players. Myself have used some of this to make things pop out, hope you don't mind.

Yes that’s my bug. Players are doing all sorts of creative things with that bug like placing boats in water or building walkways with rugs. I’ve visited some amazing houses. I think that since that bug doesn’t harm the game and encourages creativity, we shouldn’t fix it.

I don't want to take up to much of your time Sir I know you are very busy , what are you hopes housing and do you have more planned for us players who love housing so much?
Thank you for you time.

Wizard101 fan,
Paige MoonShade

As for the future of player housing, while nothing can be promised, I hope to have a solution for the 3 houses to a character limit. We’ve talked about Celestia houses with some interesting features, but they’re not scheduled yet so they’ll probably be worked on after Celestia comes out.

Good luck with your blog,
Arthur Wethersfield

I want to thank Arthur Wethersfield for the amazing work he does for player housing and this wonderful interview . Until next time, Happy house decorating ;)

To the Wizard101 Community:

As many of you are aware, we are currently experiencing some technical difficulties with the Wizard101 game service. As we work through these issues, we are temporarily limiting the number of players who can log into the game at one time. We’ve made this change due to the large number of players trying to log in simultaneously, which has led to noticeable delays when connecting to the game.

We will allow more and more players into the world as the issues are resolved. Login priority will be given first to paying customers, followed by our free player community. Also note that this delay is being caused on initial login only; there are no delays once you have entered the game, and subsequent attempts to connect should be noticeably faster.

Thank you for being patient as we work through these issues. We understand that this is an inconvenience, and we are doing everything we can to address it as quickly as possible.

Thanks,

J Todd Coleman
